Editorial Guidelines

Our Guiding Principles

Our editorial content is guided by a set of core principles derived directly from Arkham's vision for a transparent and deanonymized blockchain future.

1. Data-Driven, On-Chain First

In traditional finance, data is siloed and hidden. In crypto, the raw data is public, but often unusable without processing and analysis. Our starting point for any story is the ground truth of on-chain data. We leverage the Arkham Intel platform to see what market actors are doing in real-time, cutting through the noise, speculation, and misinformation to report on what is verifiably happening. Arkham Intel maintains a database of 2.75 billion address labels and 660,000 custom entity profiles, maintained & expanded by our research team. Our publishing team draws upon this data, making use of proprietary entity attributions which are frequently not available elsewhere.

2. The Primacy of the 'Who' (Entity-Based Reporting)

Of the five Ws, 'Who' comes first. To truly understand crypto activity, one must know the entity behind it. We believe deanonymization is destiny; just as the internet evolved from pseudonymity to real identity, so too will the blockchain. Our reporting prioritizes identifying the entities behind significant on-chain movements, providing our readers with unparalleled context.

3. Fostering Self-Regulation Through Transparency

A healthy industry requires self-regulation, built on trust and shared standards. By investigating and verifying on-chain activity, media can serve as a cornerstone of this process. By providing transparent, evidence-based reporting, we empower users, investors, and builders to make informed decisions, thereby strengthening the entire ecosystem from within.

4. From Data to Insight

Raw data alone is not knowledge. Our commitment is to not only present on-chain facts but to contextualize them. We strive to explain the significance of the events we report, making complex financial activity accessible and understandable. Whether for a multibillion-dollar trading firm or a retail trader tracking their portfolio, our goal is to transform data into genuine insight. This is best exemplified by the suite of widgets built by our engineers to make blockchain data readable by everyone, not just data scientists - which our publishing team regularly shares in our reporting.

5. Upholding Journalistic Integrity

While we are deeply integrated into the crypto ecosystem, we are committed to the highest standards of journalistic ethics.

  • Accuracy: We rigorously verify all on-chain data and seek corroboration for off-chain information.
  • Fairness: We endeavour to provide subjects of our reporting with the opportunity to comment.

Objectivity: Our analysis is driven by blockchain data, not by narrative or bias.
