Prominent crypto trader James Wynn has suffered another major setback whilst trading on Hyperliquid. Wynn was liquidated for approximately $300K while holding a highly leveraged short position on the S&P 500.
Following the event, Wynn’s account balance dropped to just $12K, before recovering to around $19K. With the remaining position still open, a further rise of only about four points in the index risks wiping out the rest of his equity.
You can interact directly with James Wynn’s Arkham entity in the window below:
Arkham’s Hyperliquid integration makes tracking this kind of trading activity fully transparent and simple. The integration displays every open perpetual position alongside live unrealized profit and loss (PNL) data, updated in real time. Users can view not only the side, size, entry price, mark price, and leverage of each trade, but also the exact unrealized PNL and distance to liquidation - without leaving the Arkham platform.
In Wynn’s case, the dashboard currently shows a 50x short on the S&P 500 (xyz:SP500) with a notional value of around $1M and an unrealized loss. The position sits on a thin remaining margin. Arkham’s balance history, portfolio overview, and entity graph further contextualize the trade within Wynn’s broader on-chain activity across exchanges and protocols.
Wynn is known for high-conviction trades with extremely high-risk. He became a household name in the crypto world for his big bets on meme coins like PEPE, but he pivoted to trading on Hyperliquid.
By integrating Hyperliquid’s order-book and position data directly into the Arkham platform, traders, analysts, and risk managers can monitor large or high-risk accounts. The same tools that revealed Wynn’s latest liquidation can be applied to any entity, helping users identify crowding, leverage concentration, or impending forced sales before they cascade.
High-leverage perpetual trading remains one of the riskiest activities in crypto markets. Small moves in the underlying asset are amplified many times over, turning modest price swings into account-ending events.
